Abandoned buildings and barren inhabited areas are a real treat to the officers to conduct training and if possible teach each s w a t member personally to handle various types of life threatening situations. Some personnel may have to undergo how to become s w a t extra special training to make them employable during adverse situations like dismantling bombs, hostage negotiations, where expert snipers or explosive experts are needed and for surveillance. Some military branches and the FBI also provide these kinds of training but the experts who are produced through SWAT are truly top class.
